Social, Economic and Resettlement Expert (Highways) - Zambia

My client whom is a leading European Consultancy is urgently seeking a Social, Economic and Resettlement Expert for a recently awarded Highways project in Sub-Saharan Africa.

My client is one of the largest global engineers in the field of Highways & Bridge with regional office across the region and a global reputation for delivering high profile projects.

Responsibilities:

The Social & Resettlement Expert shall be responsible for:

• The development and implementation of Project Monitoring Systems (PMS)
• Monitoring of HIV/AIDS/ STI prevention programmes
• Prepare supplements to the project's Land Acquisition & Resettlement Plan if required by the project construction activities.

Key requirements for the role:

• A University Degree (or equivalent) social sciences or a related field. A post-graduate qualification in a related field will be an added advantage.
• 10 years professional experience as social development expert in infrastructure projects.
• Proved experience in the region. Experience in Zambia or Neighbours would be an advantage.
• 5 years' experience in the application of environmental & social safeguard policies and related project monitoring & reporting requirements of IFIs. "
• 10 years' experience in the development and delivery of resettlement action plans, preferably in the road sector, with specific knowledge of the involuntary resettlement guidelines/policies of multilateral finance institutions and development agencies, particularly on economic displacement.
• Particular experience with road safety communication, campaigns and cooperation with police on enforcement.
• Experience in IFI financed projects would be an advantage.

Language:

Fluency in English writing and communication

Salary Package:

The salary is flexible depending on experience but an expatriate package is included.
