Job title: Purchasing Manager - Engineering
Job location: Birmingham
Salary: circa £45,000 per annum
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
My client is a busy engineering organisation based in Birmingham with projects throughout the UK. I am recruiting for a Purchasing Manager to join their team.
Responsibility for contract management and supplier development along with managing two buyers and a small materials / scheduling team. Identifying alternative sources and working towards long term supplier agreements. Support the Head of Supply Chain and be the focal point of the department during the absence of the department head.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
*Sourcing of new products and services and the issuing of RFQ's.
*Conduct competitive bid exercises to test pricing and sourcing strategies.
*Continual development of supply base.
*Address and Resolve commercial / performance issues with suppliers
*Support ongoing development of small procurement team.
*Introduce and develop best practice within the dept.
*Support Head of supply Chain in the implementation and execution of the Supply Chain Strategy
*Identify and manage risk within the Supply Chain.
*Manage the Supply Chain KPI Dashboard by ensuring purchasing metrics are met by proactively identifying performance issues and driving effective plans to mitigate issues when they arise
*Manage a small team both at head office and in the field.
OPERATION ACCOUNTABILITIES
*Take a proactive lead in resolving supplier related delivery issues
*Works accurately and efficiently - identifying improvements in existing processes and implementing change to develop efficiencies
*Maintain supplier performance at an agreed level
*To achieve best cost for goods and services against agreed savings targets
*Key supplier engagement with LTA's / Preferred supplier status
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
*Preferable MCIPS Qualified
*Proven negotiation skills
*Operational purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment
*Excellent working knowledge and use of Microsoft Office
*Supervisory / Man-management experience
*Contract negotiation
*Contract / supplier management experience
*Direct / In Direct purchasing experience
CORE COMPETENCIES
*Good interpersonal skills, particularly team working and building
*Ability to achieve deadlines consistently
*Excellent analytical skills with an ability to compile a reason justification
*Effective communication skills
*Presentation and ability to manage meetings with all stakeholders
