Your New Role
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Permanent Assurance Engineer to join our AIW Rail account in Cardiff – Hybrid working.
AIW Railway Project in support of the Core Valley Lines Transformation Programme, the Amey Safety Assurance team provide the support and oversight necessary to ensure the programme meets its regulatory compliances and obligations.
Assurance Engineer will support the Project Approvals Manager in collating, updating, and verifying the outputs associated with the deliverables needed for design and construction. Additionally, the Assurance Engineers will be responsible for carrying out verifications and checks throughout the design and construction stages.
The standard hours of work are full time – 37.5 hours per week.

You will be responsible for:
Assurance Engineers guide and track the programmes compliance to the following processes:
- Common Safety Method – Risk Assessment (CSM-RA).
- Compliance to defined National Technical Specification Notices (NTSNs).
- Entry into Service readiness checks, Construction Design Management Health, and Safety Files.
- Asset Management Planning interface coordination.
Through these processes the Assurance Engineer will support the PAM in assuring the programmes compliance to its regulatory responsibilities and Entry into Service requirements.
What makes this role unique is:
This will allow you to use your collaborative skills to liaise with Project managers to gather important information to help the project continue to run smoothly and correct from an assurance perspective.
You will have a good working knowledge of managing engineering change and will be able to work with and guide a wide scope of project stakeholders to assure timely process compliance.
We want to hear from you if you have:
- Experience and familiarity with applying Common Safety Method (CSM-RA) on railway infrastructure projects.
- Experience and familiarity with applying, or monitoring compliance to National Technical Specification Notice (NTSN) requirements, or as formerly known Technical Specification Notices – (TSIs).
- Working knowledge of the Asset Management Planning (AMP) forms and processes, and associated Interface Coordination experience (to NR/L2/MTC/089).
- Experience of Entering into operational Service new or changed infrastructure assets; and an understanding of discipline relevant documentation, site checks and signatory practices.
- Familiarity with the requirements of NR/L2/INI/CP0075 and the associated F0032 checklist processes would be a distinct advantage.
- An understanding of Construction Design Management (CDM) Health and Safety File Management.
- A discipline competence (Track, signalling etc.), or broad experience of different railway disciplines would be desirable.
- Ability to work tenaciously under pressure and reaching deadline in a timely manner.
