Mechanical Systems Quality Assurance Engineer in London, Greater London, United Kingdom
My client is responsible for the biggest rail construction project in Europe, helping to improve London's commuter infrastructure.
Due to an increase in project works they require a Mechanical Systems Quality Assurance Engineer to join them on an initial short term contract.
As the Mechanical Systems Quality Assurance Engineer you will be required to provide / assemble IRN (Installation Release Notice) technical assurance packs for Mechanical and Electrical systems, in accordance with programme assurance procedures, and the Bond Street Installation/Testing and Commissioning programme.
The bulk of the IRN packs will be Mechanical Services work packages covering predominantly Ventilation, Cooling, Drainage and Hot and Cold-Water Services.
There will be some electrical work including BMS / MCC’s and M&E systems integration testing but most of these elements will be covered by a related post holder. Namely the Mechanical / BMS IRN Pack Assembler role. Close liaison and cooperation are required from all members of the M&E Assurance Team to meet a demanding programme and delivery into revenue service.
Carry out all necessary inspections and attendance on the respective contractors, to produce IRN packs and ascertain the quality of the associated installation work is in line with requirements. Obtain the necessary acceptance / sign-off, of the IRN packs by the programme Engineering Assurance Team.
Principal Accountabilities
- Ensure that sufficient information is available on Red Line drawings, (FCD’s) Field Change Design information and (SAF) Site Assurance Files
- Ensure all necessary test data is included in the IRN packs prior to submitting to CRL Assurance Team for review
- Monitor the works and confirm progress in line with the programme. Resolve any inconsistencies in the information provided including feedback on any changes made
- The post holder shall familiarise themselves with ITP’s and ensure the work is being installed in accordance thereof.
- Arrange early work inspections with programme Quality Assurance Field Engineers to determine the need for corrective action as necessary, minimising the need for later corrective action
- Develop look ahead Programmes to produce IRN’s in conjunction with the Package Manager. Attend weekly / daily review meetings as dictated by the programme
- Communicate with the Contractors workforce / sub-contractors to ensure information necessary to compile IRN packs is available in good time
- Check the works during the installation stage and on completion to ensure that it has been constructed in line with the information provided
- Plan / coordinate and set up IRN packs in good time to ensure delivery dates are met
- The post will require the jobholder to be on site for a significant amount of time liaising and collaborating with site contractors and various M&E Delivery Teams and related work package disciplines which include Fire and Comms
- Build relationships with Delivery Teams and programme Assurance Team
Dimensions & Interfaces (both internal and external)
- Role will be based at Crossrail Bond Street Station Site Offices
- Reports to Quality Manager for assurance matters
- Works closely with all members of the Project Team including immediate colleagues within the MEP, planners, Assurance and Health and Safety sections
- Liaise with CRL / C440 / C231 Fire and BMS C443 and C449 Project Teams. Work closely with CRL Field Inspection Engineers
Person Specification
- Proven practical knowledge specifically in the assembly of CRL style IRN packs and field inspections appertaining to M&E services
- Proven experience with respect to M&E systems in-field quality inspections and reporting
- Working knowledge of CIBSE Codes and BS 7671
- Knowledge and experience of quality assurance systems and processes
- Good Communicator who can liaise with Staff within Crossrail, and the Contractor teams
- Experienced in use of MS Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook
