Quality Controller in Widnes, Cheshire, United Kingdom
A leading client in the Rail Rolling Stock Industry is recruiting for a Quality Controller to work on a contract basis based at their depot in Widnes. Contract will start early January 2020. Rates of pay flexible depending upon experience.
Reporting to the Business Excellence Manager you will be responsible for a wide range of activities which can broadly be described as "Total Quality", ensuring that the products and services meet the highest possible standards of quality and helping the management in developing the Quality Systems to achieve total customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
Supply chain Management, responding to customers, suppliers and the factory whenever product service and quality problems are encountered.
Resolving problems from any source related to product service and quality.
Liaising with customers to establish precise expectations, if product anomalies or inconsistencies arise.
Ensuring the correct use and revision or upgrade of product specifications and drawings, liaison with sub-contractors to provide timely information.
Ensuring adequate feedback on defects and causes through detailed analysis.
Identifying necessary improvements in the quality system and implementing changes to quality
procedures.
Carry out inspection of product against drawings and specifications requirements.
Carrying out internal and external product audits.
Carrying out audits of suppliers.
Auditing of quality system procedures.
Monitoring of corrective
Must have a quality background in engineering or electro/mechanical type role (ideally rail industry)
Be familiar with quality management systems, quality problem solving tools such as 8D
Can read technical drawings and do some basic measurements using hand tools such Vernier callipers or micrometres etc.
A wide practical knowledge of manufacturing techniques and their relationship to quality systems such as those defined in ISO:-9001-2000.
At least 5 years related experience within traction machines, Electro mechanical and/or electronic
equipment.
Knowledge of Railway Industry Standards.
Able to build effective working relationships.
Excellent communication skills.
Conversant with Microsoft Office, SAP and Lotus Notes database.
The role is likely to involve some travel to and from Blackburn as required, along with some local supplier visits, however this is only a small part of the role.
Working hours: Mon - Friday 37 hours (finishing at 12.30 on Fridays) and there may be a requirement in the future to cover shifts.
