The Role

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Quality Engineer to join Major Projects initially working on the Hope Valley Upgrade Project.

Key Accountabilities

The key duties will include:

• Create and ensure on-going revision of project ITP's, maintaining a register to track the necessary approvals and Work Inspection sheets.
• Produce of project quality documentation e.g. Quality Plans.
• Support the Assurance Manager in the implementation of Quality Management Plan and the AMP process.
• Monitor and oversee performance and compliance with the contract requirements in relation to quality control and assurance.
• Work collaboratively to drive improvements to enhance performance and reduce cost of poor quality.
• Monitor compliance with requirements of ITP's.
• Liaise with the Engineering Department on Quality Issues.
• Review and Update Quality Risk Assessments.
• Develop and deliver quality based training workshops to the project.
• Provide a Quality presence on site, including inspections, white board etc.
• Assist in creating the project/site inductions.
• Set detailed guidelines on what needs to be checked and what the quality standards are.
• Update the Integrated Management System (IMS) with incidents, solutions and improvements.

Skills and Experience

You will be self-motivated with a pro-active approach and have experience of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines. Problem solving, communication and good interpersonal skills are a key requirement for this role. The candidate will also ideally have the following experience/skill set:

• Hold a BTEC/HNC in engineering
• Experience in a Quality Engineering role ideally in the rail/construction industry.
• Qualified Lead auditor
• Hands-on experience with an Integrated Management Systems (IMS)
• Good understanding of Engineering documentation
• Experience of Core tools (8D, PFMEA, APQP)
• Proficient in MS office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
• Good communication and organisational skills.
