Quality Inspector in London, London, Greater London, England, United Kingdom
Rate: Up to £35/hour
Duration: 6 months initially. Rolling contract with portential to run for circa 5 years.
Our client in the rail sector is looking to recruit a Quality Inspector for it's Acton based site.
The primary function of this role is Goods in inspection. On a daily basis you would be using tools such as a micrometre, gauge and/or vernier (list not exhaustive) and testing a selection of that come in with parts deliveries. You will also be confident liaising with the supply chain in regards to these checks.

Knowledge
An understanding of electrical and mechanical measuring instruments and inspection techniques.
Knowledge of the International Quality Management Standard ISO 9001:2015. Experienced certified auditor.
An engineering background required with a qualification to HNC or equivalent experience.
Good knowledge of supply chain and procurement processes
Commitment to continuous improvement of the customer experience
Must be business focused with commitment to continuous improvement, performance, reliability, and financial efficiency with a "can do attitude".
Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, guidance and good practice.
Skills
Good record keeping and application of audit trail knowledge
Ability to formulate and articulate clear visions for the planning and delivery of initiatives and programmes.
Being flexible & supportive within a functional organization
Proven ability to communicate with people at all levels, including both external and internal stakeholders, in a positive and consistent manner.
Good business and financial acumen.
Ability to analyse complex data and formulate appropriate plans for improvement.
Proficiency in the use of IT applications. eg. MS Office, Excel
Experience
Experience of materials and manufacturing processes relevant to railway operations and their maintenance.
Experience of materials management systems such as SAP, skilled in the use of other standard software packages including Microsoft Word/Excel/Power Point/Access/Visio and relevant industry software.
Well-developed communication and partnership building experience internal and external, and proven track record in achieving required outcomes in conflicting situations.
Some examples of expected activities
- Goods inward inspection – conformity checks against technical drawings / information
- First Article Inspection – At Suppliers premises, assessing manufacturing processes and ability of repeatability to maintain required build criteria
- Production / Assembly inspections – In house
- Population of Company System (SAP) with detailed information of completed inspections / issues arising (non-conformances)
- Liaising with both internal & external stakeholders to resolve technical concerns
