Knowledge
An ability to articulate and demonstrate experience in the use of basic electrical and mechanical measuring instruments and inspection techniques.
Familiarity and Knowledge of the requirements International Quality Management Standard ISO 9001:2015. Experienced certified auditor a preferred element of the role.
A mechanical / electrical or electronic (Biased) engineering background required with a qualification to HNC or equivalent experience.
An ability to articulate and demonstrate good knowledge and understanding of supply chain and procurement processes and basic interactions.
An ability to Demonstrate Commitment to continuous improvement of the customer experience.
An ability to articulate and demonstrate a business focused approach and a commitment to continuous improvement, performance, reliability, and financial efficiency with a _can do attitude_.
Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, Guidance and Good practice.
Knowledge of the ‘Railway Safety and Standards Board – RSSB’ Railway Wheels Standard GMRT2466.
Knowledge of BS Standards relating to Railway Wheels & Wheelsets production / maintenance.

Preferable – ISO 9001 auditing experience (production processes bias)
Experience
Experience of Production line “in-process” checks, verifying and validating product conformance to standards / performance expectations and requirements, preferable with experience of Railway Wheels / Wheelsets.
Experience in implementing inspection points into production process, to minimise disruption to production flow whilst maintaining quality assurance requirements.
Experience of materials management systems such as SAP, skilled in the use of other standard software packages including Microsoft Word/Excel/Power Point/Access/Visio and relevant industry software.
Well-developed communication and partnership building experience internal and external, and proven track record in prioritising objectives to achieve deadlines / required outcomes in challenging situations.
Some examples of expected activities
- Goods inward inspection – conformity checks against technical drawings / information
- First Article Inspection – At Suppliers premises, assessing manufacturing processes and ability of repeatability to maintain required build criteria
- Production / Assembly inspections – In house
- Population of Company System (SAP) with detailed information of completed inspections / issues arising (non-conformances)
- Liaising with both internal & external stakeholders to resolve technical concerns
