Skills & Experience
- 5 years fabrication and welding experience.
- 2 years' experience of RWC or welding engineering role (Preferred).
- Knowledge of welding aluminium.
- Experience of working to the ISO 14731 weld standard.
- Previous involvement in large and complex projects.
- The ability to work on own initiative, a self-starter willing to take responsibility for delivery of goals and objectives.
- Proven ability to multi task and work across production, engineering and quality departments
- Excellent analytical and communication skills.
Main Responsibilities.
- Responsible weld co-ordinator for the facility at level B.
- Support all external and internal audits in the weld facility, ensuring compliance to all relevant standards.
- Management of non-conformance and any corrective actions.Approve re-work instructions, weld map, and support concession creation with the QC department.
- Maintain production and change weld maps and ensure, updates within production are accurate and controlled prior to issuing documents to production.
- Conduct welding surveillance audits within specified sequences specified in each project Quality Control Plan.
- Investigate defect trends and facilitate Improvements per train cycle. Support in the justification for NDT reduction during industrialisation build stages.
- Support sub-contract yearly special process audits, pre-FAI and FAI activities to ensure the work is executed efficiently and to the correct standard.
- Support the teams in developing MIG and TIG welding practices both manual and mechanized.
- Supporting new projects: Support Technical Reviews, WPQR, WPS, and Creation of weld maps.
- Draft weld procedure specifications and welding procedure qualification records for RWC-A approval.
- Coordinate the welder qualification matrix, prolongation, and revalidations. Ensure the welder qualification matrix is live and controlled.
- Ensure all weld equipment and selection of weld consumables and materials controlled in the project, as per technical review definition.
- Provide technical support and guidance for all welding-related requirements.
- Develop the wider operational team to deliver all aspects of the project/contract requirements.
- Working with the Quality team quality control plans, before during, and after inspections are conducted correctly and control of records and traceability of welds.
- Supporting the production team with the planning and execution of welds identifying any areas for improvement.
- To be aware of and actively promote and implement Hitachis ethos, culture, and values.
- Problem-solving technical and production constraints with solutions.
- To be involved in the staff development and training and participate in PDP procedures.
- To adhere to the Equal Opportunities Policy.
- To comply with and implement Health and Safety policy.
- To undertake any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as may be required.
