Ford & Stanley - The Rail Recruitment Experts are recruiting a Supplier Quality Engineer for a global rail organisation based in Newton Aycliffe who are working on the next generation of brand new high-speed trains.

The Opportunity

Our client is a rapidly growing organisation based in the UK who are at the fore front of rail engineering following the success of several projects and contract wins. This opportunity calls for a Quality professional to work cross functionally within the engineering teams to ensure the quality procedures are implemented. You will be working on a project basis, liaising with suppliers and utilising your systems knowledge.

Location (s): Newton Aycliffe

Role and Responsibilities:

• Actively prepare the suppliers within Gate review processes for the successful and timely FAI and tracking outstanding actions until successful completion of shipments.
• Assist supplier with inspection before ex-works, as required.
• Develop and track product, process and system audits from this category;
• Participate in supplier assessment and rating processes;
• Initiate and manage Supplier Development Processes
• Assist and interact with the supplier on the Supplier APQP processes;
• Report on periodic bases supplier KPIs
• Participate in Kaizen and Six Sigma processes, if required.
• Support internal quality and production in tasks and meetings.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years' experience in a similar role within an engineering background. The ability to communicate both orally and in writing is crucial as the successful candidate is expected to interface effectively with all levels of personnel both within and outside the company.

Essentials

• Experience of working in a Supplier Quality role - railway would be advantage but not essential.
• Extensive experience of working in manufacturing environment
• Knowledge of SQA processes;
• Having working knowledge on Quality and CI tools such as: APQP; Kaizen; SixSigma.
