Systems Assurance Engineer / Manager - Safety & Reliability - Consultant & Senior Consultant Roles - Rail

Atkins is one of the world's leading providers of professional, technologically based consultancy and support services. We are seeking suitably qualified systems assurance personnel to join our established systems assurance (RAMS - Reliability, availability, maintainability and safety) Rail business in Australia, based in Sydney.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advice to stakeholder (Internal and External) on all aspects of risk reduction, mitigation and safety engineering matters.
- Completion of technical safety and/or reliability assurance tasks on projects, in accordance with task specifications to meet Project timescales and costs.
- Perform Systems Assurance analyses and reviews to produce demonstrations against safety, availability, reliability, and maintainability requirements.
- Conduct Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Quantification.
- Ability to lead Safety Reviews, Safety Audits, Hazard Workshops, Technical Meetings.
- Produce Safety Assurance Reports / Safety Cases to provide projects with concise and accurate safety arguments.
- Interface with stakeholders and clients as an Atkins representative to ensure Project requirements under Atkins scope are met.
Requirements
1. Practical experience in the following areas: -
a. Hazard Identification & Assessment and associated techniques including HAZOP, PHA, FMEA, IHA, OHSA, SSHA
b. Safety Case development, Independent Safety Assessment, Verification & Validation
c. Working to Standards and Safety Principles (EN50126, EN50128, EN50129, Common Safety Method, iESM, Yellow Book, etc.)
d. Quantified Risk Assessment (QRA) using Fault Tree and Event Tree Analysis.
e. Human reliability, human factors and ergonomics
f. Understanding of SIL assessment
2. Knowledge (practical experience desirable) in the following areas:
a. Reliability, Availability and Maintainability analysis & modeling
Qualifications & Experience
1. 3+ years’ experience in the application of safety & systems assurance for specific safety related systems or multi-disciplinary projects.
2. Experience in Rail industry sector in the field of system safety engineering.
3. Understanding of the wide-ranging systems within the rail sector in order to work
on multi-disciplinary projects.
4. Engineering or science degree or higher diploma from a recognized educational
institution.
5. Experience of Project Management and understanding of programs / schedules,
budgets, stakeholder management, project risk management.
6. Desirable to have a membership of Safety & Reliability Society or related
engineering/technology institution or equivalent

2. Proficient in written and spoken English.
3. Pro-active and take initiative in managing tasks or researching rail systems or
techniques.
4. Ability to take the lead on projects unsupervised
5. Comfortable with representing the company in meetings with clients.
6. Good interpersonal and communication skills
