We are working with a multi-disciplinary engineering company that now has a fantastic opportunity for a Systems Safety Assurance Engineer. This can be based in either York or Birmingham as our client can offer flexibility with the role.

You will be part of the newly formed System Safety team and will be reporting to the Systems Safety Assurance Manager. You will have a considerable influence in the management of system safety within the business. As such, your CDM (Construction Design Management) and CSM (Common Safety Method) skills and experience will be drawn upon to their fullest and you will be constantly shaping this role to suit your career aspirations.

Key skills/experience:

• Knowledge in Risk Assessment process and techniques
• Competent in the management and implementation of System Safety within the Rail industry
• Able to audit and inspect internal projects and processes
• Ideally membership of or working towards membership of a relevant professional institution eg. IOSH, ICE, APS
• Experience of general construction activities and methods
• Competent understanding of Common Safety Method and the Railway Interoperability Regulations and how it is applied in a Rail environment with respect to design and compliance. (Preferred)
• Experience working with Assessment Body, Notified Body and Designated Body
• Good knowledge of engineering design standards for the UK Rail Network and British and European Standards
