My client is a global leader in public transport infrastructure who manage over 3,000 projects for high-speed systems, traditional rail lines, metros, and tramways on a global scale.

They are now urgently looking to hire a Systems Safety Assurance Engineer to join their growing team, based in either York or Manchester, to ensure and promote the effective Systems Safety throughout all Engineering & Infrastructure Projects.

The Role will Involve:

  • Monitor and audit projects to ensure compliance with the CDM Regulations (Construction Design and Management) and the Common Safety Method
  • Deliver system safety related training packages
  • Report on levels of compliance to identify lessons learned and opportunities for improvement
  • Providing input to focus groups
  • Promote effective Design Risk Management and System Safety
  • Facilitation of Hazard Identification, Hazard Review, and other risk workshops
  • Work collaboratively with other disciplines to aid the company with regards business development and continual improvement
  • Provide Advice and Management on issues involving CDM, CSM and Interoperability
  • Proactively manage existing clients to secure repeat business
  • To win work by assisting proposals with the technical input into bids/estimates and proposal

The Ideal Candidate has:

  • Extensive Rail industry experience
  • Working exposure to the Risk Assessment process
  • Previous experience as a practitioner in system safety
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Able to audit and inspect internal projects and processes
  • Ideally membership of a relevant professional institution e.g., IOSH, ICE, APS
  • Good knowledge of engineering design and construction principles and standards
  • Good understanding of how CSM is applied in a Rail environment with respect to design
  • Experience working with Assessment Body, Notified Body and Designated Body
  • Good knowledge of CDM, its application and its principles
  • Good knowledge of engineering design standards for the UK Rail Network
  • Commercial awareness
  • IT Computer literate – specifically Microsoft Office packages
