About our Client: Train operating company.
As a rail operator, our client is focused on station refurbishments and upgrades across the network. This is a splendid career opportunity on a six month rolling contract.
Location: To be based in London Office.
Role: Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
To provide pre and post-contract commercial management of packages with medium value and risk activity and support pre-contract activity within the delivery team’s scope of work. Providing specialist commercial advice, guidance and recommendations to mitigate commercial risks.
Accountability:
- Reporting into the Commercial Manager, the Assistant Quantity Surveyor will have the ownership of commercial activities, including cost management, forecasting and WIP (work in progress) management.
- The role requires a professional individual who can manage both internal and external stakeholders and an understanding of budgeting and cost control and related administration.
- Cost and control administration of the detail for interim payments, change management, cost reporting, for site instructions, contractor’s claimed costs, dayworks etc.
- Site cost and control measurement and related records.
- Liaison with contractor’s quantity surveyors, managing subcontract agreements, and regular meetings.
- Follow and ensure the safety and environmental policies, rules and procedures that are applicable to the role; making sure waste is minimised and resources are used efficiently. Ensure delivery of improvement plan objectives.
Pre-requisites, proven capability:
- Experience working on major capital projects in the rail industry as well as a proven track record in providing commercial support to the projects team.
- Experience supporting the commercial function on multiple projects
- Over 2 years in rail construction
- Worked on station upgrades and refurbishments
- HND in Quantity Surveying
