The Role
An opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our existing Signalling & Telecoms department to support and assist in the commercial management of internal and external contracts from feasibility through to completion.
Key Accountabilities
Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor, key duties will include:
- Monitor, review, analyse and report on all contract costs for allocated projects
- Assist with the preparation of monthly reconciliations of contract performance on a contract by contract basis.
- Assist with the preparation of client applications for payment and associated reporting.
- Support the pricing of variation orders/change requests.
- Assist with the preparation of interim and final accounts.
- Assist with preparation of comparing actual costs against planned programme, report and investigate variances.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail and be self-motivated with a pro-active approach, with experience of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines with a minimum level of supervision.
Problem solving, communication and good interpersonal skills are required for this role.
The candidate will also ideally have the following Experience/skill set:
- A measured and well organised approach to your work.
- Confident communication skills, both in writing and in internal and external correspondence
- A competent user of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.
- A positive and enthusiastic approach to challenges and problems.
- The ability to manage work to meet varying deadlines.
The successful candidate must have or be working towards a degree in Quantity Surveying.
Whilst not essential, experience of working within the rail industry would be a distinct advantage.
You will also be ambitious with a desire to develop yourself and the quantity surveying function.
