Freelance Lead Quantity Surveyor (Rail)

My client is a leading Rail Infrastructure company who provides a unique opportunity to offer 'complete solutions' and 'individual products' to any customer requiring design, installation, testing, commissioning and product support for signalling, telecommunications and power applications.

As the Lead Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible for acting as a project commercial lead and will support the commercial management of the project, managing the client payment cycle up to and including final account, ensuring maximum income, improved margins and best possible cash flow is achieved.

The day to day responsibilities will include;

• The management of payment applications and credit control processes,
• Leading the project monthly cost/value reporting activity,
• Having an input into all processes with regards to cost forecasting, and a significant input into the maximisation of income,
• Provide commercial advice to the Project Team and input into the development of training plans,
• The management of change control and the management of project risk.

We are looking for applicants to be educated to HNC level (or equivalent) ideally within Quantity Surveying and have knowledge of and ability to interpret and work with various construction industry conditions of contract.

Desired Skills

• Successful background within Civil Engineering and specifically Rail Signalling
• Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors
• NEC Contract Management
• Ideally HND or Degree Qualified in Civil Engineering

You will have a substantial background of working in contracting commercial departments, a working knowledge of the construction industry preferably within the rail industry coupled with strong organisation and planning skills with the ability to work under pressure, and to deadlines whilst building strong relationship building skills at all levels.
