We are currently working with a major engineering contractor, specialising in overhead rail electrification, who are looking to expand their commercial teams by recruiting a Graduate Quantity Surveyor based in Coatbridge, Scotland.

We are currently working with a major engineering contractor, specialising in overhead rail electrification, who are looking to expand their commercial teams by recruiting a Graduate Quantity Surveyor based in Coatbridge, Scotland.
As Graduate Quantity Surveyor you will gain training and guidance in order to be able to fulfil the following duties:
- Preparing tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the client.
- Undertaking cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work.
- Assisting in establishing a client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies.
- Performing risk, value management and cost control.
- Advising on procurement strategy.
- Identifying, analysing, and developing responses to commercial risks.
- Preparing and analysing costings for tenders.
- Allocating work to subcontractors.
- Analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports.
- Valuing completed work and arranging payments.
- Maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use.
- Understanding the implications of health and safety regulations
Job requirements
- Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar/equivalent
- Ideally 1+ years experience in the field (placement or otherwise) desirable but not essential
- An understanding of contract document preparation, contract management process, and procedures
- Knowledge of procurement techniques and contract forms
- Ability to travel in different locations as and when required.
