Our client is a Rail Design Consultancy looking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor to help manage their multi discipline rail design project portfolio - This role will is based in Reading with occasional travel to their Birmingham office. This is a permanent position paying between £40,000 - £50,000.

Rail projects will include Crossrail, Birmingham and Gatwick Station upgrade.

Duties will include but not limited to:

• Ensuring there is effective cost management of the project through regular and accurate forecasting and cost/value reporting.
• Lead and manage the procurement process to maximise profit and ensure subcontract orders are placed on time and in accordance with the company policy.
• Monitor and maximise cash flow.
• Be aware of the contractual requirements of the project, advise the site team on key requirements and ensure that all notices and other matters are actioned accordingly to protect the companies position (main, sub-contracts and consultancy agreements).
• Act and ensure others are acting in best commercial interests at all times.
• Monitor and chase main contract payments

Required Qualifications / Experience:

• Ideally you will have/ be undertaking an accredited course of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)
• Alternatively, a degree relevant to HND within civil engineering
• Ideally a background in Rail and/or civils experience is an advantage
• Min 5 year’s experience within a QS role
• Must have previous experience of NEC3 contracts and change management
