Quantity Surveyor - South - up to £45,000 plus package
The client
My client are a highly experienced, established Civil Engineering and Infrastructure contractor with a strong brand and national presence.
They work on large scale civil construction and engineering works as well as long term frameworks with regional and national infrastructure clients. This client has a requirement for a Quantity Surveyor to join their team to look after packages of work on a new project with a value in excess of £50m and a programme of several years duration.
The Role
- You will be an integral member of the project Commercial team, reporting to the Managing Quantity Surveyor
- Assist in managing the commercial aspects of the appointed contract, contributing to the overall strategy and performance of the contract to meet agreed business and service objectives.
- Attend and influence client meetings as appropriate
- Procurement and management of subcontractors
- Manage change within the contract alongside the MQS, issuing early warnings and compensation events
- Ensure record keeping is to the highest possible standard for audit purposes
- Ensure all subcontract issues are resolved, deferring to the MQS where appropriate
- Ensure accurate costing and preparation of budgets for each aspect of site development
- Maintain budget control throughout the project lifecycle
- Ensure contractual entitlement and adherence to contractual timescales
- Liaise with site personnel and subcontractors to maximise productivity
The Candidate
Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor for a contractor in a previous role, ideally you will have experience of either working with the MoD as a client, experience of NEC Option A contracts, or experience of heavy civil engineering works.
Excellent planning and organisational skills
Formal qualification or degree qualified in a relevant degree and with good numeracy skills
Strong commercial awareness, negotiation and analytical skills with a high attention to detail
Being able to work with and manage a team with a positive "can do" attitude
Excellent IT and communication skills
Good understanding of construction processes and sound contractual knowledge of NEC contracts
Good presentation, influencing and motivation skills.
Desire to develop and motivated to achieving targets.
Salary and Package
£40,000 - £45,000 + package
