About The Role

To fulfil this role within our Reading office; you will be responsible for performing the commercial function (e.g. reporting, cost control etc) as part of the Project Delivery Team, providing support across multiple projects to team members. You will be part of a small team supporting others and reporting on the status of projects for which they are responsible. You will report directly to directly to the Senior Quantity Surveyor.

The Commercial team is growing in line with business expansion which will allow for career progression.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:

• Identify opportunities and risk on a project.
• Identify and raise awareness of commercial claims, enabling Senior management to advise on how to proceed.
• Support the pre-contract stage by producing estimates from the disciplines and presenting them in a suitable format.
• Work with the design teams and Planning department to ensure each project programme is fully cost loaded
• Support the pre-contract stage by obtaining estimates from the disciplines and presenting them in a suitable format for submission.
• Production of monthly cash flow forecasts and review of Anticipated Final Cost (AFC) and Anticipated Final Billable (AFB)

About You

Essential:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience post qualification.
• Achieved Commercial Manager, Quantity Surveying or similar construction degree.
• Maintained and able to demonstrate Continuous Professional Development (CPD).
• Contract awareness as you will be required to work with various standard forms of contract & bespoke agreements.
• Able to manage work load while working on multiple projects, predominately rail related.
• Ideally MRICS or working towards.

Desirable:

• Some experience working for design consultancy.
• Good understanding of Payment Notices and payment cycles.
• A 'Team Player' working collaboratively with others in the Commercial department as part of a Project Delivery Team.
• Track record of being able to maintain good working relationships with commercial counterparts on each project.
