Quantity Surveyor in blackpool, United Kingdom
Recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor/Estimator to work on a permanent basis for a Civil Engineering/Highways family owned organisation working throughout the North West. Salary £40,000-£45,000 per annum plus benefits including car allowance.
The role will be primarily based in Blackpool and Lancashire, occasionally working on and travelling to sites throughout the North West.
Essential
Good working knowledge of NEC3 and JCT Contracts
Good understanding of Standard Method of Measurement 7
Experience of working with business systems, spreadsheet development, cost analysis, programme evaluation and development, compensation event and / or variations assessment and evaluation.
Understanding of risk management on both programme and cost
Experience of company policies, procedures & controls, operating office management systems including filing systems and document control and distribution,
Good communication and negotiate skills
Ability to work independently
Able to work to strict deadlines
Knowledge and experience of working in the construction industry
Proactive in self-development and professional qualification
Full Clean Driving Licence
Working knowledge of MS Office and MS Project
Good Presentation Skills
Roles and Responsibilities
Prepare and submit estimates for Civil Engineering and Highways Schemes from BoQs and direct from drawings.
Prepare enquiries, analyse tenders, negotiate and manage sub-contracts, approval of sub-contractor accounts for payment.
Negotiate with clients including site meetings, measurements and agreeing method of working.
Undertake weekly measures on site, prepare weekly cost reports in conjunction with site teams.
Identification, notification and costings of Compensation Events and Variations.
Preparation and submission of interim and final accounts.
Production and maintenance of Change Registers.
Work with the Procurement Manager developing key supply chain partners.
Assist in the preparation of Risk Register relating to project finance/costs.
Preparation of monthly Financial Project Reports and Project Forecasts.
Qualifications:
RICS / CICES accredited degree
Minimum 4 years' experience in highways schemes
Enrolled and working towards full membership of either RICS or CICES
Desirable
Experience of a commercial / engineering role in the construction industry
Experience in writing method statements
Experience in preparation and presentation of estimates
Knowledge of NEC4 Contracts
Knowledge / qualification of construction health and safety
Experience in bid writing
