Quantity Surveyor in Somerset, Somerset, United Kingdom
Working with a long-established contractor to the civil engineering and rail industries I am currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Somerset to hold commercial responsibility for multiple projects within the region.
Reporting to a Senior Quantity Surveyor and working very closely with the regional operations team, the Quantity Surveyor will have the following responsibilities:
- Provide advice to the commercial team and project staff on site on commercial and contractual matters including reviewing and drafting of correspondence
- Monitor contract compliance against statutory requirements and ensure all contract correspondence is recorded and logged
- Help to develop client relationships and maintain regular contact/meetings with client
- Attend all commercial meetings internal/external relevant to your portfolio of projects
- Oversee/monitor contract costs against agreed budgets
- Monitor the use of cost and financial reporting systems
- Prepare and submit cash flow forecasting as required
- Carry out monthly/periodic financial reviews (CVR's) on multiple projects and forecast final outturn values for cost, sales and margin
- Prepare and submit periodic valuations/application for payments ensuring that Client payment and cash collection is achieved in accordance with the contract
- Oversee and monitor the process for production and submission of variations/change including maintaining variation/change log
- Identify potential commercial/financial risk and opportunity and evaluate options to mitigate/realise.
- Oversee and monitor the production, submission and agreement of final accounts in accordance with the contractual requirements
- Oversee the procedures and liaise with the Supply Chain for the procurement, negotiation and placing of sub contract and Supplier orders
- Oversee the procedures for certification of contract payments/variations and settling final accounts to sub-contractors in line with agreed terms and conditions
- Assist with tenders, both in terms of formulating and review.
To be considered for this position you must have experience in a similar Quantity Surveying role within a contracting environment. You must be dynamic, professional, and have the ability to work under your own initiative as well as the potential to lead a small team in the future. You should also hold a formal qualification in a relevant subject such as Quantity Surveying, a degree or professional membership would be a bonus. Any experience in the rail industry would also be beneficial.
This Quantity Surveying role gives the opportunity to work with a growing contractor and to be able to develop a team with growth in the business in the region. Salary and package available for this position is in the region of £35000 to £42000 per annum with a car allowance, company pension and 25 days annual leave per year.
