Leading international engineering contractor who employs 26,000 staff across 34 countries with an annual turnover of £6.7billion is seeking to employ a talented and ambitious Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Edinburgh. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor with strong NEC contract and civil engineering or, power / OHL project experience, to join a business with a strong order book of work in the UK and international markets.
As Quantity Surveyor you will join the project management team and key responsibilities will include:
- · Facilitates Contract Review during project establishment - and contract awareness as well as contract management strategies during the execution phase,
- · Overall responsibility for all commercial and contractual Project activities – and advise the PM accordingly
-Manages the contract of the assigned project(s), including – but not limited to – the following:
- Ensures contract obligations are known and followed by the project team
- Manages Variation Orders (VOR/VO) and Claims
- Manages Disputes - Reviews and drafts correspondence
- · Optimizes project execution by identifying and controlling contractual risks and opportunities
- · Organizes and leads project stakeholders for contractual matters in order to obtain relevant information and to achieve the best possible co-operation between the involved parties
- · Assists or facilitates when agreed, obtainment of permits and approvals from stakeholders
- · Assists when making Sub-Contracts/Purchase Orders and manages in coordination with Purchasing execution of Sub-Contracts with the objective to promote and protect the company’s rights and expectations, including profitability requirements and impact on schedule in the management of subcontractors and Suppliers
- · Assists the PM with reports according to Contract and Stakeholders requirements
- · Assists the PM with internal reporting – and identify and report deviations relating to contractual matters
· Assists the PM with Contract analysis as required for the reporting to the Steering Committee, whenever deviations or need for changes to the given mandate (contract, budget, resources)
- · Assists the PM with other reporting according to senior management requirements
- · Captures and reports Lessons Learned from project execution
- · Supports and contributes to improvements / changes within the organization
To be considered for the role of Quantity Surveyor candidates must have strong knowledge of the NEC form of contract as well as experience working for main contractors on civil engineering or power / OHL projects. Ideally you will be degree qualified and if you have experience of the FIDIC form of contract this would be an advantage.
In return you will be rewarded with a salary of between £40,000 - £50,000 accompanied with a car allowance, annual bonus, attractive pension scheme and 25 days holiday
