Summary of the Quantity Surveyor (QS) role:
My client is currently looking for a Quantity Surveyors (QS) to join their rapidly growing team, on a permanent basis, located in Manchester working on a major rail framework.
Responsibilities for the Quantity Surveyor (QS):
- Provide a leading role to support the projects and the programme with commercial information and advice ensuring compliance with governance
- Providing a positive commercial influence on the strategy, behaviours, and delivery of the operational activities
- Cost reporting - assessing value to date, supply chain valuations and forward forecasting to completion
- Production, management and communication of the periodic CVR documentation
- Driving risk and change management, mentoring the wider project teams as part of this.
- Support with pre and post contract procurement activities as appropriate
- Estimating and cost planning for new projects/elements of work as they arise
- Production of contractual correspondence and leading on record keeping processes and behaviours
- Claims Management
- Dispute resolution and arbitration
- Awareness of the estimating process and budget control
- Compliance with Health and Safety Regulations
Requirements for the Quantity Surveyor (QS):
- Degree qualified in a commercial discipline OR equivalent experience
- 5+ years' experience within a similar position
- Experience working on Signalling and Telecoms projects would be ideal
- Experience with the following:
- Cost control and administration
- Subcontractor management
- Contract administration
- Change Control
- Budget Management Accuracy of forecasting
- Experience or qualification in contract law
- Good commercial awareness
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
