Quantity Surveyor in Derby, Derby, United Kingdom
Our client, an Electrical focused Rail business, now has an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor. With numerous projects at hand, differing in size and scopes throughout the UK, you will be at the forefront in ensuring optimal margins are made on their projects.
As one of the key members of the commercial team, you would be involved and responsible for many quantity surveying aspects such as:
· Compiling monthly/periodically application for payment information;
· Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with members of the project management team;
· Identification and valuation of variations;
· Implementation of change control procedures;
· Measurement of work done and administration of site records;
· Preparation and issuance of contractual notices;
· Procurement of suppliers and sub-subcontractors.
· Provide support with financial reporting for projects;
· Understand contract requirements and assist with contractual correspondence;
· Understanding of risk and identifying the implications of actions taken by yourself and the project team.
The ideal candidate will need to be skilled with:
· 2:1 honours degree or better in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or similar;
· Analysing drawings and designs;
· Interpreting and monitoring programmes against contractual period for completion dates;
· Above average numeracy, literacy and I.T. skills with competence in Microsoft Office Suite
· An understanding of contractual arrangements;
· Full UK driving licence;
· Good attention to detail, along with communication skills and organisational skills;
· Ideally based close to the company head office in Ilkeston or be flexible enough to commute and to attend other project sites as required;
· Good experience within a rail, construction or engineering environment;
· A driven, self-motivated attitude and responsible for high end decision making.
· A team player with the ability to interact with a wide variety of people at all levels;
· Long-term career prospects within and for the company;
· The willingness to undertake further training and education to obtain Chartered status.
Schedule: Monday - Friday (Ideally 3-5 days in office per week)
Site work involved as well. Accepting both permanent and contract applications for the role.
