We are dealing with a major Rail Engineering contractor who are looking at expanding their Doncaster team by recruiting both a Senior and Quantity Surveyor to work within the commercial team on Rail projects. As the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be undertaking cost analysis for project work which includes preparing and analysing costings for tenders and will also prepare tender and contract documents with the project team and/or the client.  Within the role will advise on procurement strategy, identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks which includes allocating work to subcontractors. Other typical duties can include, but not limited to:

• Preparing tender and contract documents with the project team and/or the client
• Undertaking cost analysis for project work
• Assisting in establishing a client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies
• Performing risk, value management and cost control
• Identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks, preparing and analysing costings for tenders
• Allocating work to subcontractors
• Providing input to any contractual claims
• Analysing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports
• Preparation and submission of interim applications for payment

 
Job Requirements

• A good understanding of construction contracts and Bills of Quantities and their respective preparation
• Experience working as Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager
• A good understanding of contract document preparation, contract management processes and procedures
• Experience of assisting in the handling of claims and disputes
• An understanding of commercial and financial reporting within a project, programme or portfolio environment
