Senior Quantity Surveyor
Up to £420 /day (OUSTIDE OF IR35)

Reporting directly to the Head of Commercial, the purpose of this role is to lead the commercial function of full project lifecycles across a portfolio of consulting, design and delivery projects in GRIP 4 – 8 to an approximate value of £10m per annum, ensuring that works are delivered to the project budget and that tendered margins are achieved or bettered through effective contract management, cost control and value management.
Responsibilities
- Support throughout the tender process by working with projects delivery to produce Bills of Quantities, activity schedules and target costs to the required methods of measurement and provide detailed responses to commercial questions.
- Provide guidance and support as well as sharing best practice.
- Analyse contract documents to highlight risk and brief delivery teams to ensure understanding of their duties under the contract.
- Provide and control strategy of commercial contacts with client’s representatives.
- Work with planning and delivery teams to establish and oversee the preparation of baseline project forecasts and cash-positive revenue plans.
- Produce, oversee the production of and present cost to date reports to support effective and up-to-date forecasting of project positions.
- Carry out staff performance and development reviews, manage, supervise and mentor direct reports within the commercial structure, delivering their staff and performance level.
The Ideal Candidate
- Minimum of 5 years Quantity Surveying experience with a background in rail projects, civil engineering background will also be considered.
- Experience with leading the commercial function on projects.
- Previous line management responsibility (Quantity Surveyors / Assistant Quantity Surveyors)
- Minimum 2:1 BSc in Quantity Surveying, or another related field
- Delivery of projects under the NEC form of contract and forms under the Network Rail suite
- Experience delivering projects under other forms of contract, such as NEC, JCT
- Member of RICS (MRICS).
- Successful experience working as part of an alliance or JV.
