Senior Quantity Surveyor – Rail Sector

Location: London (Office-Based)
Salary: £60,000 pa - £70,000 pa (dependent on the experience)

As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team in London.

The Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing the commercial aspects of rail projects, ensuring cost efficiency, risk mitigation, and contractual compliance. This is an office-based position with significant opportunities for career progression within a supportive and ambitious business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead cost planning, estimating, and value engineering for rail infrastructure projects.

  • Manage procurement processes, tendering, and contract administration (NEC & JCT forms).

  • Conduct cost reporting, forecasting, and change management.

  • Oversee subcontractor accounts, valuations, and final account agreements.

  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, client requirements, and company procedures.

  • Provide commercial advice to project teams and stakeholders.

  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to business development initiatives.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the rail sector (or related infrastructure).

  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4 preferred).

  • Experience working with rail clients or contractors is highly desirable.

  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (RICS accreditation preferred).

  • Excellent financial and commercial acumen with strong negotiation skills.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, office-based environment.
