We are dealing with a major Rail Engineering contractor who are looking at expanding their Scotland team near Glasgow by recruiting a Senior Rail Quantity Surveyor working within the commercial team on Rail projects. As the Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be undertaking cost analysis for project work which includes preparing and analysing costings for tenders and will also prepare tender and contract documents with the project team and/or the client. Within the role will advise on procurement strategy, identifying, analysing and developing responses to commercial risks which includes allocating work to subcontractors. - Support junior commercial staff
- Preparation and submission of interim applications for payment
- Contributing to the companys monthly financial reporting
- Commercial advice to operations team
- Identification, evaluation and agreement of change
- Drafting of contractual correspondence
- maintaining awareness of the different contracts in current use;
- Experience working as Quantity Surveyor
- A good understanding of construction contracts and Bills of Quantities and their respective preparation
- A good understanding of works measurement and valuation including the cost and value reconciliation of contractor and/or subcontractor accounts preferably within a rail
- A good understanding of contract document preparation, contract management
processes and procedures - Experience of assisting in the handling of change, claims and/or disputes
- A working knowledge of procurement techniques and contract forms.
- An understanding of commercial and financial reporting within a project, programme or portfolio environment
- Ability to travel to different locations as and when required
