Job title: Construction Manager - Rail
Job location: Derby
Contract rate: £Negotiable
Contract duration: 6 Months
The Construction Manager will manage the delivery of construction activity on sites across the railway network. The Property team deliver station improvements and maintenance working in conjunction with other project teams. The Construction Manager will protect the safety of staff, customers and assets during construction work and provide professional technical advice to the business on construction deliverability and best practice.
The Construction Manager will:
Develop and oversee the robust management of contractors both on site and through correct pre- and post- site documentation.
Liaise and work in partnership with Network Rail to ensure that they deliver upon their obligations.
Assist in the preparation of risk assessments and safe systems of work as required and ensure that all work complies with the prescribed requirements.
Review and authorise work package plans as appropriate, ensure appropriate stakeholders are information of what works are taking place when.
Ensure contractors receive the appropriate pre-construction information packs, and that duties under CDM (2015) are correctly dispensed.
Ensure all necessary consents are in place prior to allowing works on site.
Carry out quality and safety inspections, managing contractors working on behalf of the company or other agents, agreeing quality standards and rectifying defects and snagged items.
Carry out snagging and hand back site visits, and accept responsibility for completed works on behalf of the company.
Receive and approve as-built drawings and O&M manuals, maintaining comprehensive data storage systems for these and for works safety files.
You will have a strong understanding of safety, risk and process management and knowledge of health and safety awareness ideally holding or working towards a qualification such as NEBOSH. You will be a proactive individual, and a strong decision maker with the ability to lead by example. You will also bring attention to detail and a continuous improvement focused mindset to the role.
