Transport for London (TfL) Engineers are always looking forward. Join us in Permanent Way Engineering and, as well as maintaining legacy assets, you’ll deliver new systems and solutions. There’s more to it than Tubes, roads, buildings and bridges. This is about connecting communities and creating opportunities, so we’re ready for the 21st century and beyond.
As a Band 3 Engineer you will have a good understanding of Track engineering, with a clear knowledge of TfL and wider industry theory and practice. Successful applicants will have experience of providing professional engineering assistance to major projects and maintenance organisations. In this role there will be opportunities to work on the design, maintenance and configuration of track across the TfL estate, supporting the operation of the railway.
Working in the Track Maintenance Engineering team, you will be involved with a wide range of P.Way disciplines, including wheel rail interface, rail defect management, noise & vibration, mechanised maintenance and technical support. Day-to-day, you will be delivering technical solutions for stakeholders across the business and providing technical guidance to Operational and Delivery Units. You will work as part of the Team to improve Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Safety of the Track asset, implementing solutions within cost limitations.
You will need to understand how the track operates within a system of systems and be able to understand complex issues but be able to communicate this to a wide range of stakeholders within the overall TfL structure. You will be expected to continue to develop your expertise within the team and share your knowledge with other engineers to aid their development and support the team.
The more teams and projects you’ve been involved with, the better. It’s also equally important you bring a passion for the TfL Vision and strategy too. That’s because, wherever you join us, you’ll explore work of unparalleled scale, scope and variety across a unique range of projects, as you build your career and expertise.
