About The Role

A new and fantastic opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dedicated individual to join our team in the capacity of a Construction Manager (E&P).

Our E&P group have a proven record in project delivery from large to small multi/single discipline projects, providing engineering support and assurance on numerous regional and national rail frameworks throughout the UK. Working within the Project Engineering division, we have a team of experienced, flexible and multiskilled engineers with the right-first-time approach to delivery on an exciting and challenging portfolio.


As part of your day to day role, you are responsible for the following.

  • Line Management responsibility for the Rail Construction E&P team resource
  • Hold relevant qualifications, 18th Edition, City and Guilds 2360 Parts 1 and 2 City and Guilds 2391 or equivalent.
  • The successful candidate will be able to install, repair, inspect & test electrical industrial installations and display extensive experience in doing so.
  • Must have the appropriate Electrical Certificate report for the type of work being undertaken and have current valid NICEIC Qualified Supervisor qualifications.
  • Previous experience of working at supervisory level whilst being happy to be in a “hands-on role within a railway construction environment.
  • Manages sub-contractors and suppliers to ensure effective and safe delivery of rail E&P projects
  • Manage the Construction team to ensure delivery of works safely, efficiently, cost effectively and to agreed programme
  • Maintain up to date Authority to Work records
  • Manage the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to streamline and improve Construction deliverables
  • Undertake Staff Appraisals
  • Act as Responsible Manager
  • Set up of site implementation
  • Rail Construction works are represented at white board meetings
  • Manage the calibration of specialist installation equipment
  • Management of Enter into Service phase of projects
  • Identify and Manage NR stakeholders in relation to Rail construction works
  • Undertake site inspections and audits to verify the effectiveness of work processes and quality of works against agreed standards/designs
  • Identify forecasted resource, liaise with training manager to ensure projects are suitably resourced with competent staff
  • Provide input to business investigations as required
  • Effective liaison with HSEQ.
  • Ensure the adequate preparation, review and approval of ordering schedules for: plant, tools and resources
  • Ensure the accurate preparation and integration of technical, cost and programme information for the construction elements of Linbrooke Rail bids and delivery projects
  • Participate in reviews of construction risks and ensure that mitigations are correctly recognised by designers and incorporated in delivered works in accord with the Common Safety Method and CDM regulation including the production of records and suitable retention in the project health and safety files
  • Act as the focal point for the integration of rail construction delivery with other elements of Linbrooke Services Limited delivery and to effectively delegate this duty as appropriate on specific projects and programmes
  • To work, safely, as directed by your line manager

Essential

  • Previous NICIEC Qualified Supervisor.
  • Previous Rail E&P construction experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent team member with organisational and time management skills
  • IT literate
  • Driving licence
  • Excellent knowledge of aspects of E&P engineering as applied to railway environments
  • An understanding and appreciation of the CDM Regulations.
  • An understanding and appreciation of applicable NR standards.
  • Practical experience and appreciation of system design, development of system design, safety concepts and associated decision making as applied to railway telecommunications.

• Corporate membership of appropriate railway engineering associations.
• Design, Erection and Verification (2396) - City and Guilds Level 3 training in specific discipline
