The role
An opportunity has arisen for a Engineer - Track to join the VolkerRail, Major Projects Division. The role will initially be involved in the tendering/bidding of various opportunities and frameworks for around 12 months before becoming operational.
Key accountabilities
Once the tendering activities are complete, the role will transfer to a project where the following activities will form the main duties of the role.
- Technical assistance to the Production Teams
- Accurate setting out of data provided.
- Checking the integrity of the data either by practical or theoretical means.
- Cross reference the setting out data.
- Supervision of assembly process.
- Technical co-ordination of plant and equipment operations.
- Site measurement for QS purposes.
- Recording data for record and Quality Assurance purposes. ('As Builts').
- Maintaining equipment to good working order.
- Carry out and record periodic checks in line with Company procedures.
- Ensuring equipment is in calibration and certificated.
- Ensuring security and safety of equipment.
- Responsible for operating within the practice and procedures of the quality system.
- Alerting Senior Management, QA Manager to any non-conformance or deficiency in quality, materials, services or workmanship.
- Assist the Engineering Manager in the mentoring and development of Junior Engineering staff.
- Liaison and communication with VolkerRail staff and contractors plus all relevant external contacts as required in order to discharge the duties and responsibilities of this JD/SRS.
- The discharge of these safety critical duties and responsibilities within this JD/SRS and any other safety critical competencies are mandatory upon the post holder.
Skills & experience
The candidate will also have the following Experience/skill set:
Educated to HNC degree level or equivalent
Experience in permanent way construction or civil construction
Track handback stressing
Confident communication skills to both internal and external contacts
UK driving licence

Location
