Geotechnics/Ground and Track Engineer in Nottingham, East Midlands, United Kingdom, East Midlands, United Kingdom
We are looking for an engineer looking to join a large team focusing on the Rail Asset Management disciplines in Trackbed / Ground Engineering / Geotechnics / Railway Drainage.
Role:
- Work on a variety of projects from delivery of a factual report within the confines of a framework to more specialist consultancy within your area of expertise
- Develop a sound knowledge base of railway engineering and work alongside our specialists in one or more areas of knowledge relating to Trackbed / Ground Engineering / Geotechnics / Railway Drainage, where experience will typically be developed through a combination of job-related training and on-the-job experience
- Writing and preparation of reports, ensuring compliance with all relevant technical standards and contract technical remits
- Customer focus
- Participate in improvements to existing processes and delivering solutions
- Work within established procedures and practices, with decisions guided by senior staff, policy, procedures and business plan
- Adhere to work priorities based on direction from Managers
- Take ownership of one or more tasks in the delivery of work efforts
- Site Works Management duties - provide leadership for the work group
- Contribution to tenders
- Opportunity for the deputy management of projects

- Builds analytic and design skills.
- Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems.
- Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.
*Minimum Requirements :
- Minimum 2 year experience within similar projects and a consulting engineering environment;
- Experience of working in the UK Rail Industry and working knowledge of relevant standards within the operational rail environment.
*Preferred Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a Ground Engineering discipline (e.g. Geology)
