Designer’s Site Representative - Construction Phase Support

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual to develop their experience working in Major Programmes.

This role is to join the project team for the High Speed Two (HS2) Main-Works Civils Contract (MWCC). Our client is a sub-consultant on the commission.

This is a large and complex project covering the North of Phase 1 of HS2. The project is in the Detailed Design and Construction stage. Our client are providing designs and site support, for the joint venture who are delivering the construction works for HS2.

Due to the scale of the project, the North of Phase 1 is divided into ten “Sublots”. You will join the project delivering work for one of the Sublots (SL). The main disciplines include structures (e.g., bridges and viaducts), drainage, utilities, and earthworks (e.g., cuttings). You will also work with environmental, health & safety, consents, and the programme delivery team as appropriate.

This will be a secondment arrangement for a site-based role. The site will be located in Birmingham. A 5-day per week placement is sought (Monday – Friday) but other options may be negotiated. A full-week comprises 40-hours

Construction Phase Support (CPS) Delivery Area Technical Lead
All grades.
· Reports to Construction Phase Support (CPS) Delivery Area Technical Lead.

· Will be the Designer’s Site Representative and will coordinate directly with the Contractor’s design and construction delivery teams.

· Will be responsible for adherence to relevant CPS Management Plan and Contractor’s construction management plans.

· Will provide technical support to the Contractor during the construction programme. This support will include:

o Reviewing and responding to Contractor’s proposal for design changes.

o Reviewing non-conformance reports and providing input the acceptance process and/or providing technical advice for proposed remedial work.

o Reviewing Contractors Inspection and Testing Plans (ITPs)

o Witnessing Contractor’s testing and inspections to support the construction assurance process.

o Reviewing construction records to verify design intent and support the construction assurance process.

o Coordination with the Contractor to ensure that FCRs, NCRs and redline drawings are configured and provided to the Site Support Team for development of as-built drawings.

· Reporting/raising Early Warning Notices and the need for Contractors’ Instructions for out-of-scope work.

· Will attend regular meetings with the Contractor to provide updates on construction team queries and specific additional resource that may be required to support any construction-based activities.

· Identifies any additional technical resources that will be required based on a rolling 3-month lookahead to the Delivery Area Technical Lead and any other resource needs that become apparent at short notice.
