The role
You will lead and manage a Track engineering team for T&E on the TRU West Alliance. Ensure the projects compliance with current standards and the requirements of Network Rail, and that the CRE role duties are discharged in line with the relevant issue of Network Rail Standard NR/L2/RSE/02009.
Key accountabilities
You will:
- Lead and manage all track engineering activities for your team.
- Manage, control, plan and implement track engineering activities (e.g. S&C and PL track renewals, tamping, stressing).
- Monitor and improve engineering competence of the team.
- Plan and undertake briefings on engineering issues.
- Assist the CEM with engineering initiatives.
- Assist the Competence Manager with engineering competence assessments.
- Undertake CRE duties (subject to nomination and authorisation).
- Supervise the creation of all necessary engineering site documentation (programmes, WPP, TB’s etc.).
- Review all necessary engineering site documentation (programmes, WPP, TB’s etc.)
- Plan and implement T&I processes.
- Lead the team on site and in the office (there will be a requirement to work nights, weekends and holiday periods as necessary, by negotiation).
- Ensure that critical engineering processes, such as TSI, CDM, CSM, CRT, speed raising (etc.) are appropriately managed and resourced within the track engineering team.
- Ensure that critical project engineering documentation (such as the WPP, TB’s, Permits, etc.) has appropriate resource and attention allocated to it to facilitate quality and timely completion and compliance.
- Participate in, and engage with, external (e.g. ORR, Client) and internal (e.g. Amey and TRU West) audits.
Skills & experience
Essential:
- Relevant HND / HNC academic qualifications or equivalent and appropriate (10 years) practical experience in the relevant industry.
- Track construction experience on large projects.
- Knowledge and experience of planning and implementing Track works in a wide range of circumstances and environments.
- CRE AtW.
- PTS Working Near or Adjacent to AC Lines.
- IOSH safety qualification (or equivalent).
- Computer literate.
- Knowledge and understanding of Network Rail Track standards.
Desirable:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- CRE experience.
- Construction delivery experience.
- Multi-disciplinary project experience.
- Construction Design.
