Job Title: Senior Track Alignment Engineer
Permanent Position
Location: Birmingham (would consider London for the right candidate)
Role Purpose:
The Senior Track Alignment Engineer provides technical and professional support for Track Engineering, developing standards and technical requirements for the discipline. They provide assurance that design and construction of track meets project requirements and work to resolve issues where appropriate.
Accountabilities:
- Support development of requirements, specifications and standards which deliver track alignment such that they meet High Speed objectives and mitigate environmental impacts, within the programme budget;
- Provide technical expertise and advice relating to the track alignment to both the wider organisation and external stakeholders as required;
- Support in assuring that the design for track alignment on the High Speed Railway is configured and installed in accordance with standards and technical requirements and where necessary support in resolving issues in accordance with High Speed Technical Standards and Procedures;
- Support engagement and consultation with internal teams impacted by the track alignment design, particularly Infrastructure Management and Systems Delivery teams, ensuring that all relevant systems and sub-systems are considered providing a holistic approach;
- Develop and implement the use of best practice and innovative engineering techniques, technologies and processes, driving consistency and helping to identify opportunities for efficiencies across Phase 1 and Phase 2 delivery teams;
- Actively promote and embed Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and support and comply with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.
- Knowledge/Experience Required:
- Chartered Engineer/Membership of an appropriate professional institution or the equivalent experience
- Applicable UK construction regulations including CDM requirements.
- The application of the Common Safety Method (CSM) for risk evaluation and assessment.
- Understanding of the Regulatory/Legislative Framework relevant to High Speed
- Commercial awareness including understanding of cost delivery, schedule targets and the need to deliver an integrated solution that meets all functional requirements.
- Knowledge restricted to own discipline
- Experience in managing multi-disciplinary engineering and safety standards, activity on large complex major projects/ programmes within a complex infrastructure delivery programme.
- Experience of managing competing project and engineering demands, with cost and schedule implications.
