Senior Track Engineer in Manchester, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom
ABOUT THE ROLE
Senior Engineer - Track required to lead and direct teams comprising of engineers and technicians in producing engineering surveys, designs, studies and reports for railway infrastructure projects. This role can be based from our clients offices in either York or Manchester, where the successful candidate will act as Lead Engineer on our high profile and critical track projects to ensure programme timescales are adhered to and delivered on.
OPERATIONAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Design Permanent Way engineering projects in accordance with client requirements
- Manage and check designs produced by junior staff.
- Undertake independent design checking carried out by other sections/offices as required
- Achieve agreed targets for delivery of projects to current engineering and safety standards
- within agreed timescale and budget
- Lead and coordinate all type of Permanent Way Surveys
- Lead and coordinate teams formed to deliver projects, ensuring commitments made are delivered
- Manage and develop staff both daily and through the appraisal process in order to
- ensure the required skills are available within the department to meet business objectives
- Apply procedures and systems to ensure the safety of staff and others affected by the
- operations of TSP Projects
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Detailed experience of Permanent Way engineering design
- Incorporated or Chartered Engineer (desirable)
- Proficient at computer aided design (CAD) including MicroStation, Mx and Clear Route
- Detailed Knowledge of multi-disciplinary issues associated with Permanent Way design
- Detailed knowledge of construction principles and standards
- Detailed knowledge of track engineering design and contract conditions and safety Standards.
- CRM - Ability to maintain client relationships.
- Presentation skills- Good presentation skills.
- Communication skills- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Commercial - Good commercial awareness including programming and delivery to budgets/timescales. Awareness and experience of delivery to budget/timescales.
- IT - Computer literate - specifically CAD, Lotus notes, Microsoft Office packages.
- Team management - Experience of team management and development.
- Planning and Executing - Delivers business results through effective planning and implementation.
