In addition to maintaining the existing network the Government has recently commenced a major program of rail projects named METRONET with the aim of updating & extending the Perth metropolitan rail network and is looking for experienced rail engineers across a number of disciplines to help deliver these exciting phases of work

We are looking to hear from experienced Rail (Track) Condition Monitoring Managers interested in emigrating to Australia or relocating interstate to Perth, in this role you will lead the Infrastructure Diagnostics Vehicle (IDV) and condition monitoring function ensuring the IDV operation is managed in accordance with safety and other Public Transport Authority (PTA) requirements and that the data from the systems can be utilised effectively for all asset stakeholders (Track, Civil and Overhead Line) to deliver improved asset management regimes and reliability.

Core duties and responsibilities:

Leadership and Management

• As a member of the Track Branch leadership team, contributes to both the Divisional and Branch operational performance and the reliability of assets leading to the effective delivery of services for the PTA.
• Develops and maintains a competent and engaged workforce that is aligned to delivering PTA, Divisional and Branch objectives; managing all aspects of people management requirements in accordance with PTA policies and procedures.

Asset Management

• Provides specialist advice to the Branch Manager and other managers with regard to technical matters relating to the IDV strategy for operation, maintenance and accreditation requirements, usage of data and the ongoing benefits realisation for the PTA; acting as a technical expert on all IDV specific matters and for the wider PTA as necessary.
• Delivers systems and data that provide support predictive analysis for future track and overhead condition which inform long term efficient maintenance strategies that meet safety and reliability targets.
• Manage supplier contracts for the provision of services that include asset inspection and asset condition reporting and systems support to ensure fleet availability, cost effectiveness and long term serviceability are achieved.
• Delivers maintenance requirements by developing strategic and operational plans / programs, working with others to maximise operational activities through strong planning activities; managing all associated resource requirements, including safety management; managing delegated arrangements to achieve business objectives, ensuring that activities assigned are carried out appropriately and to management expectation.

To be suitable for this role you will ideally have:

• Possession of an appropriate Degree in Engineering, Asset Management, Systems, Data Science that would satisfy admission to the Institution of Engineers Australia and substantial experience in railway infrastructure asset management.
• Substantial experience in applying safety management systems and knowledge of the Rail Safety Legislation.
• Demonstrated ability in rail infrastructure, condition monitoring and measurement systems, Track or OLE geometry, calibration procedures, predictive data and analysis and on track vehicle operation within a rail environment.
• Demonstrated ability and experience in contract and resource management within a railway context.
• Demonstrated experience in applying asset management frameworks, standards and/ or codes of practice.
