Track Expert - Metro & Tram

The Track Expert will support the Service Delivery Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Department's strategy by investigating, conducting root cause analysis, and attributing safety and maintenance defects. The role involves developing engineering solutions to meet contractual performance and reliability targets while enhancing maintenance practices.

This position also contributes to the development of maintenance strategies and ensures alignment with our clients Strategic Asset Management Plan and Policy. Additionally, it oversees design modifications, regulatory approvals, and enhancement projects for the optimisation of complex rail systems, ensuring safety, performance, and industry compliance.

Desired Profile
Education
-Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Membership in professional engineering associations is advantageous.

Experience
-10+ years of experience in the rail industry, particularly in metro and tram systems.
-Proven expertise in track engineering, project management, and integration within complex rail projects.
-Comprehensive knowledge of industry standards, codes, and best practices for track design and maintenance.

Professional Training
Familiarity with Maintenance Management Systems and depot operations.
In-depth understanding of rail systems and track interfaces.
Skills and Competencies

Key Responsibilities
Engineering and Maintenance Support
-Apply engineering principles to solve operational challenges and improve asset performance.
-Develop and implement maintenance strategies to enhance system reliability, availability, and maintainability.
-Conduct risk assessments, audits, and hazard analysis to ensure adherence to safety regulations and industry standards.

Project Management and Enhancement
-Lead the planning, design review, and implementation of metro and tram track systems, ensuring seamless integration with other subsystems.
-Manage track construction and installation, collaborating with contractors to resolve technical issues and maintain quality standards.
-Oversee brownfield projects to optimise and enhance existing rail systems.

Maintenance Strategy and Performance Optimisation
-Develop and implement maintenance schedules to improve track durability and extend service life.
-Identify proactive maintenance strategies to maximise asset performance and minimise disruptions.
-Ensure maintenance practices align with operational safety certifications, KPIs, and contractual obligations.
