Salary: Up to £35,000 plus benefits

The Applications Engineer will report to the Lead Applications Engineer and will be undertaking application activities to ensure compliance with customer requirements, standards, specifications, processes, and procedures.
The successful candidate must have a 'hands on' approach and a willingness to get stuck into other engineering activities as and when required. They will be self-motivated, highly accurate and qualified to degree level in a STEM subject.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
To undertake application engineering activities ensuring compliance with customer requirements, applicable standards, specifications, processes and procedures. This involves:
- Preparing, generating and verifying configuration for safety critical systems
- Control of changes including configuration version control/record management
- Accurate extraction of information from customer documents
- Clarification of requirements with customers
- Production of technical documentation in accordance with the company/customer specifications
- Testing of configuration and new product features
- Clarifications internally, including with head office in Austria
- Identifying and sharing best practices.
You may also be required to provide technical support to other departments depending on workload. This may include an occasional requirement to go trackside for fault investigation or to support with trials.
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Railway engineering experience (preferably in signalling)
- Previous configuration writing experience
Qualifications & Licences
- Degree in a STEM subject, HND or equivalent work experience
Personal Skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work to deadlines
- Happy to work within a team but also be self-motivated
- Attention to detail
- Ability to accurately follow processes
- Strong checking/critical review skills
Other Requirements
- Some travel, mainly to HQ in Austria for training purposes
- Occasional night shifts/weekend working to support customer projects

- This is a UK based role, starting employment will be subject to sufficient right to work checks being satisfied.
- You will also be required to undergo a Personal Track Safety Medical, to ensure you are able to go trackside as part of the role.
