Bridge Assessment Engineer (Rail) in Manchester, United Kingdom

We are currently looking to recruit a Bridge Assessment Engineer to join the team working on Network Rail Civil Assessment (CAFA) schemes.

As a Bridge Assessment Engineer, you will be responsible for the planning and delivery of all aspects of the work, including the coordination, resourcing and completion of the Inspection for Assessment and the preparation of the Interim Report in accordance with Network Rail standards. Where appropriate, delivery of the full assessment report will be required, including the development of assessment calculations and coordination with the client and other stakeholders.

Key responsibilities;

  • Implementation of health, safety and wellbeing best practice into the delivery of all works
  • Inspection of bridges, viaducts, and station structures (canopies and footbridges etc.) as well as train shed barrel roofs, multi-span river crossings and post-tensioned bridges
  • Coordination and management of topographical survey data including 3D scanning
  • Organisation and supervision of intrusive and non-intrusive investigations
  • Production of technical reports
  • Review and verification of technical reports

Job requirements

Essential

  • Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent academic qualification)
  • STE4 certified (or equivalent demonstrable experience/qualification)
  • Working knowledge of Network Rail bridge assessments and reporting processes
  • Experience of planning and undertaking Inspection for Assessments within a rail environment
  • Experience of completing Bridge Assessments in any environment
  • Full drivers license

Desirable

  • Incorporated Engineer registered with the Engineering Council
  • Completion of an approved Inspection for Assessment (STE4) module
  • Structures Examination Reviewing experience (STE2 certified)
  • IOSH Managing Safely certified
  • Personal Track Safety / IWA
  • Rope Access (IRATA) certified
  • Confined Space Entry certified
