Rail Services, based in Rugby and with depots nationwide, owns, maintains and operates the largest fleet of modern On-Track Machines (OTM) in the UK.
Fitter Operator Maintainer (OTM/MMT) - Romford
Purpose of the role is to drive, operate and maintain on track machines including the Network Rail Mobile Maintenance Train in a safe manner, in accordance with the Competency Based Standards for Operator Driver Fitters, and in accordance with the Colas Rail Railway Safety Case.
Key Tasks
•Responsible for booking on and off duty at the time and place directed by rosters, weekly orders.
•Work to a safe and competent standard.
•Complete and send all necessary and correct paperwork to Rail Services.
•Good knowledge of procedures regarding route learning and route retention and training.
•Submit timely/accurate/ detailed reports on all on track incidents (including infrastructure damage).
Role Specification
Fitter
•Carry out scheduled machine maintenance on Colas fleet.
•Only carry out safety critical tasks that you have been trained passed as competent to perform.
•Responsible for the cleanliness of welfare facilities within the MMT units including washroom and kitchenette.
•Liaise with maintenance department with regard to machine servicing, repairs, faults and spares.
•Carry out on-site and follow up repairs to machines.
•Assist Specialists Fitters with machine repairs.
Operator
•Operate on track machines (OTM) in accordance with Railway Standards and in possessions to the instructions of the customers machine controller / Track Quality Supervisor (TQS) and Controller of Site Safety (COSS).
•Carry out daily and weekly maintenance and safety checks
•Conduct all pre-start safety checks using appropriate daily and weekly check lists.
Qualifications and experience required
•Knowledge of standards and specifications (for Operating-Maintenance/Fitting)
•Able to perform weekend and shift duties
•In possession of a clean road vehicle driving licence
•Recognised Fitting Skills; NVQ, BTEC etc.
