IVVQ Manager / Test Manager
Division Description
DTS delivers a wide-range of solutions into the transportation domain.
Primary Purpose of the Role The Integration, Verification, Validation, Qualification (IVVQ) Manager will manage a team of integration, verification and validation engineers and be responsible for planning and performing IVVQ for a computer-based system that will be deployed to provide information relating to the UK road network. Where necessary the job holder will be required to perform a hands -on role, taking part in IVVQ activities.
The role holder will also be responsible for ensuring the adequacy of test and acceptance
processes of third party suppliers to Thales for this project.
The role holder will interface with the client to achieve IVVQ objectives.

JOB DETAILS
Key Tasks The successful applicant will work within a project system engineering team and have the following responsibilities:
Planning of IVVQ activities including:
- The production of Integration and Verification and Validation Planning documents e.g. Test Strategy, Test Plan, System Integration Plan.
- Identification of resources required to perform integration, verification and validation activities (e.g. human resources, tools, equipment).
- Scheduling of IVVQ activities in a manner consistent with achievement of the project schedule.
Execution of Integration, Verification, Validation and Qualification activities, including:
- Production Of Integration and Test procedures and cases and supervision of other team member.
- Metrics collection and analysis associated with IVVQ activities.
- Management of the Integration and Test Team, encompassing task allocation and progress
monitoring and monitoring and management of the quality of the products of IVVQ.
- Taking direction from and reporting to the Department IVVQ function owner to ensure that work is
performed in accordance with department policy and processes.
- Taking direction from and reporting to the project System Engineering Manager to ensure
that IVVQ activities are performed in accordance with project plans.
Software experience:
Experience in the following areas would be beneficial:
- Familiarity with software languages including Java, C#, C++
- Familiarity with development environments including Eclipse, ms.net Framework
- Familiarity with software architecture including Enterprise, SOAP, XML, Webservices,Messaging
- Familiarity with large databases including ORACLE, SQLserver
- Familiarity with web based systems
- Familiarity with agile methodolgy and test-driven development
Working with Third Party Suppliers:
- Ensuring the adequacy of third party test processes (test strategies, test plan,
test procedures, test cases etc)
- Acceptance of software from third party suppliers
- Management of defects between Thales and third party suppliers
Working with the Client:
- Establishing and maintaining a strong productive working relationship with the client to facilitate
and achieve IVVQ activities in an optimum manner
- Providing a responsive, authoritative, firm and fair interface with the client to deliver against
commitments whilst managing client expectation within the contracted scope
Technical & Professional Skills - Degree qualified (or equiv.)
- Experience in the respective technical area.
- Experience of leading IVVQ activities (essential)
- Experience of the production of IVVQ planning products e.g. Test Strategy, SIP, Test Plans,
Procedures/Cases etc (essential)
- Previous experience of team management for a complex project (essential)
- Experience of scheduling and planning activities (essential)
- Experience of reporting progress (essential)
- Experience in the use of metrics (essential)
- Experience in the use of automatic test tools (essential)
- Experience of customer user acceptance testing (essential)
