Independent Checking Engineer - Civil/Structural in Riyadh, Not Specified
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Independent Checking Engineer to work on a major rail project in the Saudi Arabia. As subject matter expert for civil/structural work should have in-depth, hands on experience in the construction of underground and above ground metros. The engineer should possess at least 10 years construction experience.

The Independent Checking Engineer (ICE) for this role during the Build stage shall:
Provide independent, technical oversight of the Contractors build activities and pro-actively report all discrepancies and non-compliances from defined requirements, processes and procedures to the Contractor
Impartially review the Contractors selected means and methods, reporting any evidence of non-compliance without offering opinion or judgement on alternative solutions
Issue a monthly report to the Contractor, highlighting any discrepancies and non-compliances identified together with the corresponding corrective actions implemented or agreed
The ICE, during the Build stage of the project, shall demonstrate construction expertise relating to:
Temporary works
Excavation
Embankment
Precast manufacture
Tunnelling: TBM and NATM
Cut and cover construction
Aerial guideway
Metro stations
The role of the ICE shall be to conduct an appropriate level of review and surveillance of the build activities to ensure the design is properly implemented and controlled. This shall include observing construction activities and reviewing construction documentation to include:
Shop drawings
Method statements
Inspection and test plans
Requests for Information
Field change notices
Non-conformance reports
Test results and certification
Review management plans, work processes, tools, software and deliverables as necessary to evidence compliance activities.
Attend constructibility and quality assurance reviews together with coordination meetings as necessary to evidence compliance activities.
Pro-actively report any identified non-compliance to the Contractor for corrective action.
Report on compliance on a monthly basis for each construction package/construction location. As a minimum, this report shall cover the topics listed above and should highlight any discrepancies and non-compliances identified together with the corresponding corrective actions implemented or agreed.
