Job title: Methods Engineer - Rail and Rolling Stock
Job location: Ilford
Salary: £40,000
I am recruiting for a Methods Engineer to join my client based in Ilford providing support to rolling stock projects in a depot environment.
Key Accountabilities:
*Improve manufacturing efficiency through the implementation of competitive and innovative new methods and processes.
*Ensure project compliance against customer specifications, engineering specifications, drawings and current legislation.
*Support the site functions in delivering all of its projects safely, on time, to the quality standards set and at a competitive cost.
*Undertake project first fit outs.
*Manage and resolve technical queries in a timely manner.
*Create Bills of Materials.
*Create Labour estimates.
*Create and maintain manufacturing documentation.
*Produce work record books and work instructions.
*Design and implementation of jigs, tooling, stillages.
*Design of material kits required for use by production teams.
*Work with site teams on process improvement initiatives.
*Evaluate technical specifications and produce reports as required.
*Undertake technical investigations working with site teams, suppliers and customers
*Assist with the compiling of bid data.
*Assess customer variations with a view to implementing.
*Identify and execute cost saving initiatives.
*Create Level 5 throughput plans.
*Perform other duties as assigned by the Methods Manager.
Required Skills and Experience:
*Apprenticeship/HNC in an engineering discipline.
*Good communication and presentation skills
*Possess previous experience of working within the rail industry or a heavy engineering company
*Possess a high level of commitment and ability to work on his/her own initiative and to tight deadlines, whilst demonstrating a flexible approach, particularly in relation to working hours and location.
*Have strong computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word and Project.
