We are currently dealing with a leading Rail Engineering Contractor who is looking to recruit a Principal Project Engineer who comes from a Civils background to be based in the York region.  As a Principal Project Engineer, you will manage a team of direct reports, including SPE, PE to deliver projects working on minor railway civils supporting the signalling project. Within the role you will ensure implementation of project works are to correct technical standards working as part of the project team to ensure safe and successful delivery.  This includes interfacing with the client(s) on matters of safety, engineering, and compliance, support the Senior / Project Managers in delivering all their portfolio commitments for example, identifying changes to project scope and commercial issues.

 
Acting as the Principal Rail Project Engineer typical duties can include, but not limited too:

• Critically review P6 project plans to ensure effective delivery.
• Liaise with Construction and Testing to ensure early visibility of resource requirements.
• Review resource plans and amend project plans where possible to ensure maximised resource utilisation.
• Undertake site safety inspections and tours on a monthly basis in line with agreed schedule and CPPs.
• Act as CEM / CRE and Project Engineer where required and competent to do so.
• Provide Civils technical support to the Signalling and Telecoms Project Engineering Group.
• Lead and, challenge, all civils tendering requirements to meet business requirements.

 
Job Requirements

• Previous Experience as a Rail Civil Engineer
• CEM Experience, CRE or Project Engineering experience
• Ideally Chartered or Incorporated Engineer
• Happy to travel to site across the UK as and when required
