Principal Structural Engineer (Rail) - Nottinghamshire
Here at Samuel Knight we are delighted to be working alongside a renowned, global client that is currently actively looking to recruit a Principal Structural Engineer to work within their vastly experienced Rail team out of their Nottinghamshire base.
The successful candidate will be part of a vastly experienced team and provides a wonderful opportunity for someone with an extensive background in rail to enhance their career with a renowned Design Contractor.
The foundation of the role for the successful candidate will be to ensure that high quality, innovative structural designs are produced in accordance with the business and project requirements. You will also provide mentorship to the Structural team and guidance on structural design matters, whilst managing a team of Senior and Graduate Engineers.
Responsibilities:
- To manage, mentor and provide design/technical guidance to team members
• Act as ‘Project Manager’ accountable for the successful delivery of the project
• Act as CRE (Design) for rail projects
• Act as designer, checker and approver (depending on competence) as required by the project
• Prepare reports and coordinate the production of detailed AutoCAD drawings for issue
• Site visits to carry out structural inspections
• Write structural specifications to instruct work at site
• Liaise with other Professionals internally and externally, including Contractors, sub-Contractors and Clients
• Attend and contribute to meetings both internal and external
• Develop good working relationships with others based on technical excellence, professionalism and openness
• Organise all relevant method statements and risk assessments in accordance with Construction regulations and health and safety policies
• Help drive the business towards their aims for BIM

Experience Required:
- Clean Driving Licence (required)
• Degree in Civil Engineering / Structural Engineering (required)
• Achieved Chartered status (ICE or similar) (desirable)
• Understanding of relevant design codes, Eurocode, CIRIA and BRE
• Personal Track Safety Certificate (desirable)
