Linbrooke Services Ltd provide high quality Telecommunications, Security, Power and Civil Engineering solutions to the Rail Industry. This position is a senior role within the Communications & Control Group and reports directly to the Engineering Director, Comms & Control. The Project Engineering Management organisation, within the Communications & Control Group is responsible for the delivery of the project engineering needs of projects for the business.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Take ownership and responsibility for the completion of installation, testing & commissioning activities for Control & Communications projects.
Implement test & commissioning processes and procedures described within the Linbrooke Services management system for projects / bids.
Ensure that all reasonable care is taken to ensure that work is conducted professionally and safely and in accordance with agreed standards.
Liaise and assist the HSQE team to ensure due regard is given to safety / quality and environmental issues associated with projects/bids.
Act as on track plant co-ordinator
Act as TIC (Tester in Charge) for projects.
Undertake testing & commissioning work in accordance with the approved test documentation.
Carry out technical installation works in support of projects.
Undertake site testing including FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing), SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) and EIS (Enter in to Service) testing when authorised to do so in the capacity of TIC.
Provide evidence of testing & commissioning through the completion of test certificates and associated documentation.
Support the Technical Support Manager in continuous improvement of test activities to realise cost & programme efficiencies.
Provide technical support to internal and external customers for the installation and commissioning of equipment and systems.
Ensure a robust and documented handover process is executed from the construction organisation prior to the commencement of testing.
Coach and mentor junior staff for I&C activities.
Attend internal and external meeting as required to represent the testing and commissioning group.
SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCE
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Excellent team member with organisational and time management skills.
IT literate – Microsoft Office including CAD software such as AutoCAD, Visio, Microstation J.
Driving licence.
Thorough knowledge of aspects of telecoms engineering as applied to railway telecommunications.
Excellent understanding and appreciation of the CDM Regulations.
Excellent practical experience and thorough appreciation of system design, development of system design, safety concepts and associated decision making as applied to railway telecommunications.
GENERAL SAFETY
Comply at all times to the requirements of Linbrooke Services HSEQ policies and in accordance with the Health & Safety at Work Act.
You are to ensure that each of your allocated projects are provided with adequate information, instruction, control measures & guidance following detailed surveys and risk assessments. Your plans must provide sufficient resource, plant, project documentation and facilities to enable the project’s staff to operate safely without risk to their health, safety, welfare or harm to the work environment.
You should instruct and consistently check that Supervisors are monitoring site safety. It is your responsibility to make certain all Supervisors have sufficient health and safety knowledge, competency and qualifications.
Ensure all work is conducted in line with Safe by Design (SbD) principles. Review, consider and use relevant information from each SbD working group as can be applied to project designs and provide the working groups with feedback on Linbrookes developments and lessons learnt.
Review incident and accident reports and ensure conditions exist to enable those with corrective actions to complete them. Ensure subsequent measures are briefed and remain implemented to prevent recurrence.
Proactively support management & safety staff in conducting investigations of accident or incidents. Provide input, advice and recommendations to support the formulation of corrective actions.
