Job Summary
AECOM is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to undertake the management and coordination of technical resources for multi-discipline projects. We currently have projects for clients including HS2, Network Rail, Crossrail, London Underground, London Overground and London Tram, and delivery scope includes station, bridge, electrification and depot schemes.
AECOM is also in year 5 of a 10-year framework with Network Rail and Colas Rail for the design and delivery of all Switch and Crossing (S&C) renewals across the whole of the south of the UK. This includes track, signalling, OLE, ETE and points heating designs for a large number of sites, stretching from Anglia, Kent and Sussex in the East, Wales, Western and Wessex in the West, and the LNW (London North West) Route from Euston to Birmingham.
To support these projects AECOM is recruiting for a Rail Engineering Manager to join their team in Croydon. The successful candidate will have solid post graduate experience gained from working across a range of multi-discipline infrastructure projects. You will have proven engineering management experience, developing projects to client’s satisfaction at the appropriate standard, ensuring accuracy of drawings and calculations, and ensuring the relevant codes and standards are complied with. You will have the ability to develop and manage the work of others, and the technical ability, knowledge and competence to guide and teach others.
As an Engineering Manager your main responsibilities will include:
- Assessing the competence and the appointment of all Responsible Engineers required to work for or on behalf of the organisation.
- Ensure that appointees are competent and able to undertake the workload required and have both understood and accepted their responsibilities.
- Clearly identify and document the interfaces between all discipline Responsible Engineers
- Be accountable for all specified design; specifically its ability to integrate with all other designs, and existing infrastructure, and its compliance with all applicable standards, legislation, contract requirements and specifications.
- Approving all designs and ensuring completion of the acceptance process;
- Implementation of a formal design integration process for all design documentation.
Minimum Requirements
- For this role, you will ideally be degree educated in Engineering with a proven track record in an Engineering Management role with typically experience on relevant projects.
- We are looking for an individual who can establish and implement an effective engineering management process throughout the life of projects with the ability to clearly brief and lead the teams.
- You will be a results-driven motivated individual with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels.
- Awareness of the role of CEM and CRE according to Network Rail’s Standard NR/L2/INI/02009 Engineering Management for Projects
- Experience of tendering for railway engineering projects
- Understanding of railway Health and Safety including CDM
Preferred Qualifications
- HNC, BSc, BEng or MEng degree in a relevant discipline
- Chartered or Incorporated Engineer and member of a relevant professional institution
